Culture shock. That’s the way people usually describe it. It’s the feeling people get when they realize they’ve been dunked, looking-glass style, into an entirely different standard of normalcy. Suddenly, they realize that they don’t look like anyone else, sound like anyone else, or react like anyone else around them. They are the strange ones, not the locals.
That’s what this blog is about.
It’s a collection of stories, voicings and ventings. The varied experiences of frum individuals in a non-frum environment for the very first time.
If you have an interesting account you’d like to share, just send it to Frumblogger@gmail.com and we’ll post it.
Submissions are subject to both editing and moderation, of course.
Tell us more about yourselves, how many authors etc
We prefer to remain as anonymous as possible, hence dearth of possibly identifying personal information. The frum world is quite small. If there is anything in specific you’d like to know, don’t hesitate to ask.
As of now, Frumgirl 1 (myself) is the main author of this blog, with occasional input from other contributors. I hope they will continue contributing regularly, or even become regular authors, but there are no promises as of yet.
I am trying my best to secure other regular authors, but it isn’t exactly easy to find frum graduate students that can both find the time to write and have the inclination to do so.
Enjoyed reading about your experiences and perspectives, you do have a flair for writing – thanks!
I’ve read through your whole blog and enjoyed every single page. Thank you.
